About NFESD:

The National Forum for Environment and Sustainable Development (NFESD) is a Yemeni civil, non-governmental, non-profit organization that was established in Yemen in 2021. The forum is  working in areas related to the environment, sustainable development in Yemen .

About the Program:

The NFESD Policy and Advocacy Program aims to influence policy development, strengthen legislative frameworks, and promote public awareness on environmental protection and sustainable development. We work to integrate environmental considerations into national policies, advocate for effective laws and regulations, and foster stakeholder engagement in decision-making processes.

About the Volunteer Role:

We are seeking dedicated and passionate volunteers to support the NFESD Policy and Advocacy Program Coordinator. Volunteers will have the opportunity to contribute to various program activities and play a vital role in shaping policies that protect our environment and promote sustainable development. Specific volunteer roles may include:

  • Research and Policy Analysis Support: Assisting with research on environmental issues, analyzing existing policies, identifying gaps, and contributing to policy recommendations.
  • Advocacy Campaign Support: Contributing to the development and implementation of advocacy campaigns, including public events, media engagement, and lobbying efforts.
  • Policy Engagement Support: Assisting with policy engagement activities, such as attending policy forums, preparing position papers, and participating in consultations.
  • Capacity Building Support: Contributing to the organization of capacity-building workshops and training programs for stakeholders on environmental issues and sustainable development.
  • Networking and Collaboration Support: Assisting with networking and collaboration efforts, including building partnerships with other organizations and participating in relevant networks.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation Support: Contributing to monitoring and evaluation activities, such as tracking policy implementation and assessing the impact of advocacy efforts.
  • Public Awareness and Education Support: Assisting with public awareness campaigns, workshops, and educational programs to inform and engage the public on environmental issues.
  • Policy Briefs and Publications Support: Contributing to the production of policy briefs, research papers, and publications to disseminate knowledge and advocate for evidence-based policy decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in program activities as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with program staff and other volunteers.
  • Follow program guidelines and procedures.
  • Attend relevant meetings and training sessions.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare reports as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of advocacy materials and campaigns.
  • Adhere to the organization’s volunteer policies.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for environmental protection and sustainable development.
  • Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Relevant skills and experience in areas such as policy advocacy, environmental science, law, or communications are desirable but not required.
  • Fluency in English Language.
